It is true that you can always pay a visit to the store and get yourself a few commercial cleaning solutions. Do you always want to do this, however? After all, a considerable portion of these contain harmful ingredients that can affect human health.

What you can do is turn to green cleaning products for the best results in your cleaning efforts. There is zero doubt that there are many recipes that work wonders. Not only are they super effective at removing stains or assisting your overall cleaning routine, but are also all-natural and 100% harmless to human health.

Feel free to adopt the following:

  • Oven Eco Cleaning TipsOven cleaning – there are a few ways to deal with oven cleaning in an eco-friendly manner. One is to use baking soda with water to form a paste-like compound. Spread it all over the interior of the oven and leave it there overnight. That is enough time for the solution to do its job and soften the accumulated gunk in the oven. Wiping that will be a breeze. Another way to clean the oven features lemon. Squeeze two lemons into a bowl of water and leave it inside the oven. When you finish cooking, leave the bowl inside as the oven cools off. The vapours should soften the accumulated grease and make it easy to clean.
  • Cabinet cleaner – if the cupboards of your kitchen are looking rather dingy, you should not despair. Mix a cup of white vinegar and a cup of warm water, along with ¼ cup of baking soda. Grab a sponge and apply to the soiled areas. Wipe up with the excess mess and buff with a damp cloth.
  • Toilet cleaner – cleaning the toilet requires powerful solutions. One such consists of a third of a cup lemon juice and two-thirds borax. Mix these to form a paste and apply it on the toilet bowl with a sponge. Leave the solution on for 30 minutes and then flush the toilet.
  • Wall cleaner – scuff marks on the walls in the hallway are certainly no fun. You have to be careful not to harm the paint job. To achieve a decent result, you should mix half a cup borax, 1 tablespoon household ammonia, quarter cup of vinegar and water. Working your way from top to bottom, sponge any dingy marks. Finish by using a sponge to rinse with water.
  • Furniture polish – if you are looking for a solution to make almost in an instant, then this is a suitable way to do it. Grab a quarter cup of linseed oil, 1/8 cup vinegar and 1/8 cup of whiskey. Mix these in a spray bottle. Spritz on the surface and clean with a soft microfibre cloth.
  • Disinfectant – there is no more need to rely on a chemical spray. Mix zest of orange and 3 cups of white vinegar in some container. Clear out the zest and strain a single cup of this liquid into a spray bottle. Fill it with water and use on soiled surfaces.

Evidently, there are quite a lot of cleaning solutions you can use to clean at home. It is up to you to adopt these recipes in your efforts.

Can you believe it that there are people out there who love to clean? The most boring thing in the world brings joy and satisfaction to many. Are they losing their mind?

In truth, home cleaning doesn’t have to be that dreaded chore you make it. Yes, it is tough, and it takes a lot of time and effort on your side, but it can also give you something in return. Here are a few of the unexpected benefits of cleaning, some of which you may not have considered before:

  • House Cleaning LondonA healthier environment – perhaps the most obvious benefit of them is that home cleaning contributes to a better living environment for you and your family. Keeping your home dirty spells trouble for anyone with asthma and allergies, not to mention it breeds harmful bacteria and can pass around colds. While it is hard to achieve hospital-sterile environment, you can at least keep it dust-free and clean. What also helps is using non-toxic cleaning solutions, which is possible thanks to the cleaning prowess of vinegar, baking soda, lemon and a few other cleaners.
  • It promotes an organised home – typically cleaning goes hand in hand with an organisation. You cannot possibly be a good cleaner if you work around too much clutter. Keeping a mess in every room has proven drawbacks not just for your physical comfort, but also for mental wellbeing. When you take some time to clear the clutter and tidy up your rooms, you make cleaning easier, in addition to making the area look neat and tidy.
  • Foster mental wellbeing – there is enough stress in the outside world already. Why would you want to have it in your home as well? Living in a clean environment fosters mental wellbeing and calm, which are both invaluable in today’s stressful reality. You may not like the cleaning activity itself, but you will most certainly love a clean and tidy room, where you can relax.
  • Cleaning BenefitsYou develop more minimalistic beliefs – as you declutter and clean your home, you will find an opportunity to embrace minimalism. That is not to say you need to cut down everything to the bare essentials, but when you clean, you will find a lot of clutter to get rid of. Before you know it, you will see that keeping less stuff around is better than keeping more.
  • You are always ready to welcome company – if you kept your home clean and organised at all times, you don’t have to fear someone dropping by unexpectedly. So when your relatives call you and tell you that they will be there in half an hour, you will not spend the next 30 minutes frantically cleaning the mess, because your home will already be clean.
  • You can find everything you need – by cleaning and organising your home on a regular basis, you can easily navigate through your belongings. Whenever you need to find something, you won’t have to dig through piles of clutter and tons of dust, as you will know where to find it exactly.

There are quite a few benefits of cleaning at home. Now that you know about them, perhaps you will find it easier to get down to doing your chores when you must.

Cleaning your home sure demands a lot of hard work and dedication. You cannot just clean once and call it a day when there is always some chore waiting to be done. A lot of the tasks are recurring and need to be looked at on a weekly or even daily basis.

Knowing what you need to complete all of your chores goes a long way. Without being prepared, you will find cleaning quite challenging and overwhelming.

So without further delay, here is what you need to clean your home well enough:

  • Domestic Cleaning Tips LondonCleaning equipment – obviously, without having the right gear and tools for cleaning, you cannot address the job. You cannot clean with your bare hands, after all. You need all sorts of cleaning equipment, such as a vacuum cleaner, a mop, sponges, cloths, brooms, scrubbers, etc. On the cleaning front, you will also need various products and liquids specially formulated to help with specific cleaning tasks. Keep in mind that you can clean with multiple eco-friendly solutions, such as baking soda and vinegar. Those are mostly in every home.
  • Knowledge on how to clean – another requirement for cleaning is knowledge on how to approach certain tasks. It is not just about knowing how to clean, but also knowing how to clean efficiently and quickly enough. The last thing you want is spending hours in cleaning something, just to see it spoiled again in no time. With so much information on the internet, you should try out different approaches to cleaning chores and find out something that works. It is a guaranteed way to improve your cleaning knowledge.
  • Some cleaning motivation – it is true that cleaning is no one’s favourite activity. The fact that it is something you must address sooner or later doesn’t help, but you should not despair. Cleaning can be fun, as long as you want to see it that way. For instance, while it can be exhausting, it is also a good workout. It can also be a nice way to spend time with your children while teaching them essential skills.
  • Set aside time for it. –  Cleaning takes time. Even if you have what it takes and you are dealing with pretty straightforward chores, you will notice how time flies. An excellent way to go about cleaning is to create a routine and stick to it. In doing so, you will be able to organise your time better and not feel so stressed about it. For example, it could be that you deal with certain chores on the weekend, or you address a little every day before going to bed. Make sure the routine fits your lifestyle and leave some room for flexibility for those times when something unexpected happens.

These are the 4 main things you need to clean your home well enough. Now that you are aware of them, you can better get the job done.

Addressing all the different aspects of home cleaning is definitely not easy. You need to pay attention at the state your home is in regularly, or else it will become a mess. That is hardly ideal, considering how much time you spend in your home and how important it is for the environment there to foster good health and wellbeing.

Sadly, cleaning is not as easy as you’d like it. There are many different chores you need to deal with, and a good portion of them are somewhat problematic. You have to learn how to overcome the obstacles associated with cleaning and thus improve your home a great deal.

Following is information on a few cleaning problems and their solutions, which will serve you well in your efforts:

  • Domestic Cleaning TipsYou lack motivation – more often than not, you approach cleaning your home without any eagerness whatsoever. It feels like a burden, and so you just want it to be over as soon as possible. To feel more motivated to clean, you need to remind yourself of the benefits. Without proper cleaning, your home will develop harmful bacteria and germs, which can affect your health. Additionally, it will lose its charm and visual appeal. You should also try to make the cleaning process fun. Whether it be by putting some music on, or by joining forces with your children, there are many ways to boost the appeal of cleaning and make you feel less intimidated by it.
  • You have no time – one common problem with cleaning is that it often takes more time, which you just don’t have. Granted, there are other things you need to take care of, you can still make it easier to clean without feeling pressured by time. One way to do this is to establish a cleaning schedule, which revolves around your other activities. Also, you can enlist some help to help you get around cleaning easier.
  • You don’t know how to address certain chores – this one is rather easy to solve, considering one quick search on the Internet will grant you all the information you need. You will find working methods and solutions, among them many DIY recipes with ingredients found in every home. Test them out and see just how easier it is to address cleaning.
  • You lack the gear – there are some purchases you must make to better handle all home cleaning chores. Apparently, you cannot do any vacuum cleaning without a decent vacuum cleaner. A good quality mop to address floor cleaning and spills is also a must. Determine your needs and acquire the cleaning gear to overcome any cleaning challenge.
  • You are tired – it is only normal to feel overwhelmed by cleaning. It is a tough physical exercise, which takes quite a lot of energy. The way to overcome this is to clean in small bursts, rather than do a marathon. You can also turn to cleaning services to help you out.

Now that you know how to overcome the most common cleaning problems, you are much closer to keeping your home in a clean and fresh state.

Home cleaning is pretty much impossible without the aid of specific tools and accessories. A lot of them are no-brainers really, as without them you cannot do the cleaning task itself. However, many tools are only extra in your quest to clean the space and can be substituted for more effective counterparts. Taking the time to arm yourself with this gear will not just cut your cleaning time, but also improve the outcome of your efforts.

Take note:

  • Broom and a dustpan – these two are most commonly used together, and they are a must-have in every home. You can dust various areas with it, including windows, fans, doors, walls and most notably floors. It is the ideal combination of tools to have to deal with an area full of debris.
  • Spray bottles – if you are into brewing your home cleaning solutions, then you need to have some spray bottles around. You will use them to mix your ingredients. They are quite convenient, as you can create your solution, mix it well and then use it directly on some surface.
  • Microfibre cloth – one of the best materials to use for wiping and cleaning of various surfaces is a microfibre cloth. Not only is it soft enough for you to use without fear of scratching anything, but it is also highly absorbent. Use it not just to clean stains and sanitise various areas around your rooms, but also to take care of dust. It is best to use several cloths in different colours for various rooms and areas of your home.
  • Gloves – gloves are not used directly to clean your home, but they keep your hands safe when you are in the process of cleaning. The skin on your hands is sensitive and frequent work with chemicals can cause some damage to it. To avoid rashes, itchy and scaly skin, be sure to don some gloves for protection before starting a home cleaning session.Vacuum Cleaner
  • Toothbrush – apart from brushing your teeth, this tool can be used in a wide range of other cleaning tasks. All the hard-to-reach areas of your home are no problem for a small toothbrush. It is the best tool for cleaning grout lines, as well as around faucets and other similar areas. Keep a few toothbrushes around, as you will need them.
  • Vacuum cleaner – there is no way to look after your carpet without a decent vacuum cleaner. There are plenty of models and types out there, so you can choose one that best fits your needs. It is important to select one that is powerful enough to take care of the job.
  • Cleaning caddy – if you wish to cut your cleaning time, you should have a cleaning caddy. Transporting all of the cleaning solutions and tools from one room to another with you is not going to be a problem anymore.

Now that you know what tools you need to address your home cleaning needs, you best make sure you acquire them. They can make quite the difference.

When it comes to home cleaning, do you wish to go through a cleaning marathon every single week? The likely answer is ‘no’, even if you do not mind cleaning. There are just much more pleasurable things you can do, whether it’s spending time with your family and loved ones, or perhaps investing in your hobby.

Luckily for you, there are a few shortcuts that can cut cleaning time by a lot:

  • Always start from the top working down – one of the ways you could be making matters is by first cleaning a room at floor-level and then addressing upper areas. The main issue with that is dust from the upper levels will make its way down as you clean it, effectively rendering your previous efforts to clean the room futile. That is why it is essential to start from the top of the room and work down. Leave vacuuming and mopping for last.
  • Clean little, but clean often – cleaning on the go is a concept that many professionals recommend. What does cleaning on the go mean? Basically, you invest a few minutes of your time as you do another task, or when you are waiting for something. For instance, as your meal is getting re-heated in the microwave, you can do a quick wipe of the countertops or the sink. In the bathroom, use a squeegee to wipe the excess moisture from the shower area for a minute or two immediately after a shower. By doing that, you save yourself a ton of cleaning time later on.
  • Prevent unpleasant smells – instead of wasting time and effort in locating a foul odour; you can easily apply a solution to eliminate it. Baking soda and lemon juice are your best friends in that regard. One area of the kitchen that is regarded as troublesome is the fridge. Make it a rule to check for any old food you have put in there before shopping, and you will avoid trouble.
  • Cleaning TipsPrevention is important – instead of wasting time on cleaning, you should keep your home from getting into a state of mess in the first place. This is easier than you may think. One way is to take your shoes at the door, to limit dust and other impurities from getting inside. If you notice your cooking efforts have caused some trouble, be sure to line the oven with a baking sheet to catch spills. Small steps like these make a striking difference in the long run.
  • Invest in cleaning tools – a cheap and underpowered vacuum cleaner is only going to remove surface dust. What you need is a powerful enough tool that gets the job done quickly. It is the same with cleaning products: the more you know about them, and the more you have tested them, the better the outcome.

It is up to you to implement these tips into your daily routine. They make quite a difference to how well you perform.

Preventing the disaster that is Easter egg dye https://www.domestic-cleaners.biz/blog/cleaning-tips/easter-egg-dyeing/ https://www.domestic-cleaners.biz/blog/cleaning-tips/easter-egg-dyeing/#respond Sun, 01 Apr 2018 14:49:43 +0000 https://www.domestic-cleaners.biz/?p=7166 It is this time of the year – dyeing Easter eggs. It is this time of the year – dyeing Easter eggs. While it is fun to do it with your kids, the little devils have little regard for the stains on the upholstery or the carpet. The dye can stain the fabric and become permanent. Cleaning service then is risky and may not be enough to help the case. For this reason, regardless if the dyes are natural or chemical, you should know how to prevent a mess, or, as a last resort, learn to deal with one.

First, you should plan time and consider some safety precautions.

A notable example for this is calling a specialised cleaning company that can Scotchgard your carpet. It is a useful solution, which shields your carpets from unwanted stains. It can be a life-saver if you expect young ones to run around, especially since egg dye is hardly the only source of stains around Easter time.

You can also consider a different approach and use plastic or paper to cover the surrounding areas of your home, or at least in the rooms you expect to see a lot of activity in. That way no matter how dyed your children’s hands get, the damage will be minimal. Don’t forget to give them an apron or a smock of some sort.

When mixing dyes, be sure to use the appropriate containers. Plastic is lightweight and highly prone to spills. Instead, opt for glass or ceramic bowls, which you can then wash. Whatever you do, make sure you don’t ever leave your children without supervision during the dying process. That is a recipe for disaster, which you will later on regret. Stay close and let them have fun without getting too excited. In case there is a stain, it is important to know what to do.

Here is a quick guide on how to address such a problem:

  • Cleaning Tips LondonTreat the area immediately – the most important thing to do when you see a drip, blotches or handprints in green, blue, red or some other typical colour, is to react quickly.
  • Apply the right cleaner – next; it is essential to use the appropriate solution. For egg dye, you can use warm water and dishwashing liquid. Blot the area with a white towel or rag. Be careful not to rub and scrub, as that will set the stain deeper.
  • Rinse with water – after blotting, rinse the stained area with water and let it dry.
  • If there is still a visible stain – try water mixed with ammonia. The most you will need is one tablespoon for a cup of water. Remember to test the carpet first! You don’t want to make matters worse. The same applies to any spot removers you may decide to use.

These are all great tips for treating any trouble that comes from Easter egg dye in your home. The best home cleaning task you can accomplish has to do with preventing a mess in the first place.

Are you used to spending most of your weekend doing home cleaning chores? Have you ever considered the fact that the way you do these chores may be wrong and that you can significantly speed things up?

A lot of people don’t realise this, as they just clean the way they have always been cleaning. But as it turns out, there are a few cleaning mistakes that can lead to difficulties cleaning. Sometimes you just do not have the time to perform a good thorough cleaning and have to do the so-called speedy cleaning.

It is up to you to learn more about these mistakes and avoid them at all costs.

  • Not following the ‘top to bottom’ rule – if you are no fan of hovering, you may rush to deal with it first so that you don’t have to trouble later. However, if you leave dusting as your last chore for the day, you will find dust and spoils falling on the freshly vacuumed carpet. That is hardly ideal, as it only means you will have to clean that much sooner. Make sure you dust from top to bottom so that you can then address the dust that falls onto the lower levels of the room.
  • You don’t sort your laundry – you may feel tempted to do laundry without sorting by colour, especially when the clothes are of similar fabrics and hues. However, pre-sorting may, in fact, prove to be a time-saver. If you invest a few minutes to separate the lint givers from lint catchers, you will not have to rid the fabrics of lint later on. Besides, not sorting the laundry may surely get it mixed up and ruined.
  • Window cleaning on a sunny day – when the sun is up, you may feel motivated to tackle the grime on your windows finally. However, you should resist the urge. You will find the heat drying the cleaning liquid too fast, leaving streaks all over the glass. You cannot call a glass with streaks clean.
  • London Cleaning TipsWashing dishes before putting them in the dishwasher – while it is ok to scrape off any large food pieces, you shouldn’t bother washing the dishes. That is what the dishwasher is for. They will probably not get any cleaner if you do, and you will only waste your time.
  • You don’t let cleaning products sit before wiping them off – whenever you want to give your bathroom a good clean, you have to leave the cleaning product to sit for a while. Spraying it on tiles or the sink and then wiping it immediately off does nothing. It is the same for other areas of your home as well.
  • Letting family members walk inside with their shoes on – if you only knew just how many bacteria and germs your shoes collect, you will never allow anyone to step in with their shoes on. Not only does this expose your home to dangerous allergens, but also spoils your carpet.

By avoiding these simple mistakes, you can be sure that you will speed up your home cleaning efforts a great deal.

Having children at home sure means that you need to invest a ton more effort in domestic cleaning. From the extra mess, the young ones create,  to the need to be more diligent due to all the microbes and bacteria lurking around, you need to up the effort.

But who is to say your children should only remain part of the problem and not the solution? There are many ways to enlist young ones to help, and it is not just you that will benefit. According to many experts, cleaning with children is highly educational and helpful. It allows the young to develop important life skills and also shows them the essence of keeping a hygienic environment around them.

Here is how to get the most of the activity:

  • The secrets to cleaning with your childrenStart when they are young – toddlers love to be around their parents, helping them in any way they can. What is more, they feel extreme pride and gratitude in anything they can help out with. If you make it clear that you want the place to be neat and tidy, your children will catch on your expectations. They will know that play an important in ensuring this is the case. Then, depending on what age your children are, you can delegate tasks. For 2-3-year-olds, it could be something as simple as putting the toys back in their storage.
  • Give specific instructions – when you expect children to clean, you have to be more specific. For instance, a 5-6-year-old may feel like the statement ‘Clean up your room’ is an impossible feat. You can narrow down the task be specifying: put the toys back in their place and the books on the shelves.
  • Role playing games – children five years of age enjoy role playing, so you should try it out. You can encourage them to pretend they have their own cleaning company and they are ready to take cleaning service enquiries. Outfit them for the job properly: with gloves, aprons and all. You, as their parent, will then play the role of an appreciative parent.
  • Motivate them – children love external motivation, especially when it is in the form of having fun or getting their hands on some reward. For example, you can ask them to complete a specific task by the end of a song. If they manage, they get to dance around or receive a small treat. Holding a cleaning contest may also work. Have your children do a certain task, and whoever does it in the least time and to the highest standard receives a reward.
  • Avoid redoing children’s work – one mistake you can make when cleaning with children is redoing their work. By doing so, you are mostly showing them that their efforts weren’t enough, which will only discourage them. For this reason, avoid tasking your young ones with chores that will later irk you when not done right.

These are all essential tips that you can implement when doing the home cleaning with children. They go a long way in ensuring that you have fun and that your children learn a few useful skills.

You will find that cleaning is much easier with music to distract you. It is not far fetched to say that you will likely keep the momentum long after the playlist has ended.
  • Set a timer – somewhat similar to cleaning to the beat of your favourite tunes, with one difference: you permit yourself to stop after the time is up. Set the timer for 20 minutes or any amount of time that seems manageable to you. Then, remain focused and invested in the task during that time and stop once it has run out.
  • Address a simple task every dayhouse cleaning is not going to work out if you try to devote an entire day to it. Assigning a single chore every day of the week is a more reasonable solution. Start Monday, and you will find that by Sunday you will have done enough to have plenty of time for lounging and doing what you love most.
  • Clean with your children – if you have young ones at home, it is best to make them part of the solution. Young children are quite energetic and eager to engage in different activities. Granted you don’t demand too much of them; they can become your most trusted cleaning allies. This presents the added benefit of teaching them valuable skills like time management.
  • Workaround your weaknesses – everybody’s got a weakness, and you need to know what yours is. Then, you can accommodate. If you know you cannot resist the urge to toss your clothes on the floor, place a chair where the pile of clothes would be. That way you will more easily address the task, if not entirely fix it.
  • Create a trigger – by using some trigger that spurs result; you can more successfully clean at home. For example, you can tell yourself to pick up around you whenever you pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea. It can easily become automatic behaviour or give you a cleaning impulse at the very least.

These are just a few of the cleaning tricks you can use for extra motivation. Implement any number of them to see just how effective they are.
